• Joshua Gabriel S. Tobias

    Joshua G. S. Tobias is a Ph.D. (College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Sociology) graduate student at The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to UAB, he worked as a research assistant at the Veterans Research & Education Foundation of St. Louis in Missouri. He received his master’s degree in Sociology from Saint Louis University and his bachelor’s degree in Sociology (with a triple concentration in Gender and Family, Social Problems, & Development Studies) & Anthropology with a minor in English (magna cum laude) from the University of Guam. His research broadly examines minority health & health disparities through the intersection of medical sociology, urban sociology, the sociology of mental illness, and public health.

     

    Born and raised in the Philippines, Joshua has come of age in his adoptive home of Guam in Micronesia
